Even tho I have Argentina as runners-up I needed a 20 point advantage to have any chance to hang on with a Spain win. I only had 19 points over Sultan, so assuming he was going for Spain win the max I could recover on correct scores was 12 points, which would fall short by one. Hence why I’m forced to go for Argentina win. |

Slight correction to Sultan’s earlier post. If Spain (the favourites) win then Sultan will indeed take all the glory (he also has Argentina so will gain massive points). If Argentina, win then Dan will almost certainly win. However, if the points work similar to previous years, there is a remote chance that I will cling on to top spot if Argentina win AND I get the score prediction correct, AND Dan doesn’t. If we both predict the same goal difference then I don’t think I can cling on if Argentina win as that’s 32 points for Dan. So Sultan wins by if Spain wins, Dan wins if Argentina wins (unless I predict the correct score while Dan doesn’t). One of us 3 will finish top. Good luck! |

I remember 2022 when I predicted Argentina France 1st 2nd and did a 30 point turnaround to beat Eshwan.
Last night got a cheeky 10 points for France as a 3rd place loser, and I’ve got Spain Argentina as 1st 2nd. So if Spain win, 2022 repeats! If not, Danimal wins. |

Tuchel should have put fresh legs on much earlier. Must keep a counter attack threat by leaving eg Rashford on half way line. There was no exit route. Can’t invite Messi&Ci to have over half an hour of training session in our box. Suicidal. |

Argentina was just too good for the lads, this tactic once worked! Who remembers the WC game vs Argentina, David Beckham scored a penalty just a couple of minutes after the game has started. They defended from that moment until the end it ended 1-0. |

So we are now heading into the business end of the competition. 8 teams left and it’s very close at the top of our league. A lot will depend on which country lifts the cup. Never really looked at it before but in another league using Superbru they focus more on closeness which includes spread but negates spread points when the actual and predicted scores diverge too much (ie 2-0 gets no credit for 6-4 score)…just food for thought… |

Game seems to run the same rules / algorithm every tournament. First comes result (WDL) then second goal difference… so seems a good a way as any? Is the match gonna be close, or is one side going to look to close the game out with two goal cushion, or will they be so dominant as to try to bag loads to boost goal difference? |
